Depending on what your replication mode is set to (see below) you will have partial or full access to your fonts. To take Type Client offline, choose Server > Go Offline. (You can do this using a VPN connection see above.) You need to establish offline mode in Universal Type Client before you disconnect from your office network. In Universal Type Client you have the option to work offline-disconnected from the Universal Type Server-for up to 30 days. (Ports may differ if your administrator has changed them within the application.) This configuration would depend solely upon your company’s IT staff. For Universal Type Server/Type Client you will need ports 80 open. While all environments are different, the main element is to make sure that the necessary ports are accessible to the server via the VPN connection. A VPN connection enables a user to send and receive data across shared or public networks as if they were doing so from their local office environment. Virtual Private Network (VPN) is the most common of these.
